MANITOBA CONTRACT BRIDGE LEAGUE
MINUTES OF MEETING MAY 12, 2025

Vice President Marsha Kimelman called to order at 4.00 P M Ray joined meeting 4.09P

•        Minutes of Meeting April 7,2025 approved as posted. Moved by Jacqueline Meyers Seconded Barbara Parke Carried

•       Financial Report awaiting 2024 final report.   

•       Supervised Play Program ends for the summer June 10, 2025, September date for a new session to be announced.

•       Intermediate Games continue to be well attended

•       Lessons for Beginners ended May 3. Bill Treble and Dennis Glasbrook will offer Winning at Match points, Defending at Bridge and A first Course commencing end of April

Spring Sectional held May1-3, 2025 was deemed a success. Financially for the unit and a fun time for our players.  Attendance passed the mark set at previous tournaments in all games. ACBL charged us an additional tournament fee re players who  have not renewed their memberships in future tournaments this will be collected from the players at time of entry. Directors’ fees were discussed.

Discussion followed re next tournaments.  It was decided for our sectionals we will hold 2 sessions pairs on Thursday an afternoon and an evening event.  A Friday morning pair session and Saturday Swiss teams 2 session event.

Anticipated dates Sectional October 23-25, 2025, Sectional April 23-25, 2026, Regional October 14-17, 2026.

AGM date June 7, 2025, Meeting 11.00 AM Lunch 12.00 Noon, Team game 12.30 PM

Mentorship if partnerships already established approach the unit for mentoring Gloria will administer.

Subsidies our members playing in the CBF events in April were very successful. The Unit subsidises any entry fee paid after the round robin concludes. CNTC B Final Marlene Pontifex, David Sired, Rasim Sari, Bob Neudorf  CSTC Semi Final & Final Bob Todd, Doug Fisher, Neil Kimelman, Ray Hornby CMTC Quarter, Semi and Final Marielle Brentnall & Bob Kuz .Amounts will be confirmed and remitted to the teams and pairs.

Marielle and Bob will be traveling to Europe to compete in the Worlds in the summer.  Unit will also subsidise them in the amount Bob Todd received last year as Captain of the competing Canadian Team.
