GLEN FIDLER
January 9, 1934 – December 15, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Glen Fidler announces his passing at Concordia Hospital on December 15, 2022 at the age of 88, with his loving wife Lana by his side.
He is survived by his wife Lana; daughter June Wakefield (Ian); step-son Jeremy Gartner (Ainslie) and granddaughters, Madalyn and Annaya Gartner. Glen will be missed by his extended family and lifelong friend, Melvin Taylor.
Glen was predeceased by his parents, Edith (Sinclair) and Herbert Fidler; first wife Joyce Turko; six siblings, Kenneth, George, Wesley, Ethel, Dorothy and Marlene (Art) and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Glen was an avid swimmer and while attending Miles Macdonell Collegiate for high school, was an enthusiastic basketball player and award-winning curler. One of the highlights of his life was attending the Miles Macdonell 50th Reunion as he had the opportunity to reunite with former classmates.
Glen retired from the CN Railway after 39 years at the age of 59. He volunteered his time to delivering Meals on Wheels and enrolled in Chinese cooking classes. Glen prepared a variety of delectable dishes which family and friends enjoyed. He was also proud of achieving a "hole-in-one" at Harbour View Golf Course. Glen was a keen Bridge player, and during his retirement he became a Bridge Gold Life Master.
Glen and Lana were married on December 17, 1982. They enjoyed travelling and had numerous memorable trips. Both appreciated theatre, concerts, museums and art galleries. Glen and Lana especially enjoyed touring gardens together in Victoria, British Columbia and camping in Banff and Jasper.
Glen was a kind, gentle and humble man with an abundance of patience. He enjoyed the simple things in life, especially going for country drives and going out to fall suppers. He appreciated time spent with family and friends at picnics, meeting for monthly breakfasts and dinners. Glen's family meant the world to him and he was proud of their accomplishments.
Thank you for the comfort care provided for Glen at the Concordia Hospital. Per Glen's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Norwood Hotel, 112 Marion Street on January 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba.
