Mary Gibb Ritchie (nee Tudhope) Mason

Passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. at Northland Pointe at the age of 92 years. She was surrounded by loved ones. Mary was truly an amazing individual who loved her family more than words can say.
As a border lassie Mary was born in Scotland and although she moved to Canada at an early age she continued to be a huge part of her family in Scotland. Her love for Scotland never swayed as Scotland was and always will be her home and forever in her heart. Mary always put her family first who loved and adored her. Mary raised five children and became the "best" granny to five grandchildren and an amazing great-granny (gran) to four great-grandchildren. Mary's love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren went unmeasured.
Mary was a natural athlete throughout her life, beginning with field hockey as a child and later becoming a member of the Highland Golf Course as an avid golfer in the early 80's. Mary had a great appreciation of the performing arts and music. Her love of the opera and musicals eventually became an important part of the family dynamics. Friends and family including the grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoyed many evenings singing with joy while Mary played the piano. Another great love was reading, Mary was an avid reader and could hold her own in any trivia games and tournaments. Mary loved golf, playing darts at the Welland Dart League, and cribbage tournaments. She was a member of branch 4 legion ladies auxiliary.
She will be sadly missed by her children Beth Mason, David Mason (Ann), Donald Mason, Lynne Murray (Tim) and Jennifer Mason, grandchildren, David Uguccioni (Julianna), Tom Mason, Lindsay Murray, Alison Archer and Ahren Patritti as well as her great-grandchildren, Kay Mathes-Mason, Ari Uguccioni, Leo Uguccioni and Donald Paul Archer.
Mary is predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Mason, her son Donald Mason, daughter-in-law, Ann Mason and granddaughter, Alison Archer.
We would like to thank the amazing staff from Northland Pointe who went above and beyond. There is no doubt they will miss her. Northland Pointe was truly outstanding and Mary's family will forever be grateful for their care and love.
Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, June 25th at the Welland Legion Br. 4 383 Morningstar Ave, Welland from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
