MINUTES OF MEETING JULY 17, 2018
Present: Unit 181 Board Members: Shirley Galler, Barry Wolk, John Hindle, Ray Hornby, Dave West, Deloris Ankrom, Marsha Kimelman, Ann Wolfman, Marielle Brentnall –

President John Hindle chaired the meeting. Called to order 5.20 PM
Quorum declared.
1. Minutes of Meeting June 5, 2018 approved as circulated. Moved by Deloris Ankrom, Seconded Ann Wolfman Carried.
2. Business arising out of the minutes
Blue Book all names have been merged into a printable version, quotes for printing have been received. Discussion followed about soliciting for ads. John and Marsha to handle all details. Yes, the book will be printed shortly. After the completed book is printed a master copy will be available by the computer. Marsha Kimelman will maintain updates.
Up date on Lease dispute for previous premises. This case was to be held in Small Claims Court June 9, 2018. This was remanded to August 14, 2018. Doug Fisher and Brian Pauls will represent MCBLI. Doug, Len, Brian and Marielle will meet on the 13th to discuss. .
To Do list still outstanding
1. Acknowledge Donations. Marielle will complete list with assistance of Treasurer these will be posted on Web Site. March 2018 IN PROGRESS
3. No Correspondence.
4. Presidents Report
Directors Course will be held on 5 Wednesday Evenings commencing in September. Currently 9 are registered.
Marlene will be approached to co-ordinate.
Refresher course for current directors will also be planned for one Thursday Evening. Marlene again being asked to co-ordinate.
Soul Sanctuary update
Lift is currently being worked on.
Kitchen usage is again a concern. John circulated the written rules we must live by to all owners and directors. This must be adhered to.
Learn Bridge in one Day will be held Saturday September 15, 2018. Preregistration required. Payment to be received at the Registration Table. Fees will be $20.00 John and or Carolyn will arrange for space at Soul Sanctuary
5 Club Owners Report
A special meeting of Club Owners and Directors was held July 10, 2018. This was a very productive and well received meeting. Minutes were circulated.
6.Special Events
NAP finals to be held in November is also held on a Sunday. Bob will look for a site to hold this event.
October Regional Tournament brochures are being printed and will be at the club shortly.
7. Treasurer’s Report
GST for the years 2014-2017 have been accepted and processed as filed.
Recap of financial position was reported.
8. Membership
Mentoring. Program in place.
Social Event. Suggested date is around Remembrance Day
Checking into presenting Learn Bridge in one day at the U of M
Checking into possibility of a Youth Bridge Camp for summer 2019,
9.Long Term Planning
Dave West checked out many premises that we could partner with but to no avail.
Committee will meet shortly to consolidate a fund-raising campaign.
10. Golden Age Recognition by the ACBL is new. Carolyn will provide details at next meeting.
11.COPC sanctioned club qualifier game. Bill Treble is suggesting that this should we hold these games. Bill has been requested to bring further information to the Board at the next meeting.
12. Unit Games these are the Unit run pairs games Tuesday Evening, Wednesday Afternoon. Friday Afternoon and the Team Game Saturday Afternoon. We would like to build these games up in attendance. We are open to suggestions. Should format be changed some items discussed were, alternative type of game, Imp Pairs, Board a Match, a more social type of bridge. We are all to think about this and bring suggestions to next meeting.
13. Joan Clasen approached the board to participate in a Lions Club program to recycle old hearing aids that would be given to hard of hearing Children. John to approach Joan for more details. If feasible we would be willing to participate. John would be in charge.
Decision was made to hold all board meetings last Tuesday of the month.
Next Unit 181 Board Meeting Tuesday August 28, 2018 5.00 P.M at Soul Sanctuary.
