Obituary for JOHN MURPHYJOHN PETER MURPHY It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Peter Murphy on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Tache Centre. A much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Left to cherish John's memory are his wife of 56 years, Joan, his children, Jayne (Wayne), Joann, John (Josepha); grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Garry), Michael, Jordan (Sally), Catherine (Jared), Braedan (Angie); great-grandchildren, Sofia, Sawyer and Hunter, and sister, Shirley. John was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Lucy, infant daughter, Jöna Marie, and grandson, Evan. On June 8, 1928, John was born in Kenora, Ontario, where he received his education and began his career with the Ontario Minnesota Pulp and Paper Company. In 1967, he was transferred to Winnipeg as the Operations Manager for Willson Stationers. John finished his career with the law firm of Pitblado and Hoskin. John enjoyed 27 years of happy retirement golfing, reading good books, travelling with Joan - winters in Texas and precious time with family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Victoria General Hospital and Tache Centre for their exceptional care. In keeping with John's wishes, cremation has taken place and funeral mass will be held at the Parish of St. Timothy, 135 John Forsyth Rd., on Friday, August 29 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Parkinson Society Manitoba, 7- 414 Westmount Drive, Winnipeg, MB R2J 1P2 or to a charity of your choice.
